Darkest Deeds

Vihdoinkin viikon "kesäloma"! :) On tätä odotettukin. Nyt saan oikeasti levätä hetken. Kävin myös läpi syksyn aikana kertyneitä meikkikuvia ja tässä yksi niistä.

Finally, my "summer" vacation! :) I've been waiting for this quite a while. I went through some older pictures and here's one look from the autumn.

Vihreän silmämeikin pääpaino on Fyrinnaen upeassa 'Dressed to Kill' luomivärissä. Se on niin täydellisen syksyinen sävy ja se kiiltelee ja hohtaa todella kauniisti. Sain tuona päivänä kahdelta tuntemattomalta ihmiseltä kehuja meikistäni ja tyylistäni. Eräs nainen ihan pysäytti minut ja sanoi, että 'onpa sinulla kaunis tyyli'. Olin kovin häkeltynyt ja otettu.

The main focus in my eye make up was in Fyrinnae's gorgeous 'Dressed to Kill' eyeshadow. It's perfect for autumn and it shines beautifully. Two random people commented on my look that day and both were very positive. :)

Meikkipohjana käytin perinteisesti Illamasquan Skinbasen sävyä 02. Tykkäsin itsekin tästä meikistä ihan älyttömästi. Vähän tuollaista Lumikki-meininkiä.

As a foundation I used Illamasqua's Skinbase 02. I really loved this dramatic look. 

 

Rusty Purple

Tässä meikissä sain yhdistettyä melkein kaikki uuden Inglot -palettini sävyt. Ja melko onnistuneesti jopa. :)

I combined almost all shades from my new Inglot palette. I liked the result. :)

Tykkäsin tästä väriyhdistälmästä ihan hulluna. En olut ihan varma, mennäänkö metsään. Jotenkin tuo violetti ja oranssihtava punainen käyvät yhteen ja saavat vihreät silmät näyttämään taas supervihreiltä. :)

This combination is one of my favorites. I wasn't sure if it would work, but it did. And this look makes me eyes look extra green. :) 

Rusty Inglot Look

Charming Nailsin pyynnöstä tein tänään meikin käyttäen Inglotin sävyä P607 (tumma punaisen oranssi). Väri näyttää napissa punaisemmalta kuin iholla. Aivan upea sävy. :)

Charming Nails requested a look with Inglot's shade P607 (reddish darkened orange). It looks more red in the pan than on the skin. Gorgeous shade. :)

Tämä kyseinen Inglotin sävy on ihan huikean pigmenttinen ja levittyy todella kauniisti. 


This particual shade is highly pigmented and easy to apply.

New Inglot Palette & Swatches

En ole hetkeen käynyt Inglotilla, mutta Hesan reissun yhteydessä piipahdin Kluuvin Inglotille ja ostin uuden viiden luomivärin Freedom -paletin. En ollut suunnitellut sävyjä etukäteen, mutta paletin sävyt miellyttävät silmääni todella paljon.

I haven't been to Inglot store in a while, but while I visited Helsinki I decided to take a look. I bought a new 5-eyeshadow Freedom palette. I hadn't really thought about the shades beforehand, but it turned out to be quite easy. 

Kaikki sävyt on jälleen huiman pigmenttisiä, kuten kuvasta varmaankin näkyy. Olin hieman huolissani, että matta violetti (M325) olisi liian samanlainen Sugarpillin Poison Plumin kanssa, mutta huoli oli täysin aiheeton. Inglotin violetti on huomattavasti tummempi. Tuo sininen on houkutellut minua jo pitkään, joten nappasin sen vihdoin mukaan. Ja nyt minulla on ihana oranssi/terrakotta/jne. jonka perään haikailin edellisessä postauksessani. Meikkikuvia tulee, kunhan ehdin hieman testailemaan palettia.


All shades are highly pigmented, as you can see from the picture. I was a bit worried that the purple shade (M325) would be too similar with Sugarpill's Poison Plum, but this is much darker, so no worries. That blue shade has been on my want list for a while now, so I grabbed it. And now I have a lovely burnt orange/terracotta shade I was after in my last post.

Kirjoitellaanpas nyt muitakin uutisia. Olen marraskuun aikana käynyt hius-/hiuspohjahoidoissa. Minulta on lähtenyt aivan järkyttävästi hiuksia kesästä lähtien ja muutenkin ohut tukkani on alkanut näyttää todella ankealta. Nyt olen käynyt kolme kertaa hiushoidossa, jossa ensin hiukset pestään, sitten laitetaan naamio ja sen jälkeen vielä hiuspohjaa stimuloiva hoitoneste. Tämän lisäksi olen käynyt kaksi kertaa hiuslaserissa. Sen tarkoituksena on myös stimuloida hiuspohjaa. Hoitokertoja tulee yhteensä 10. Lopullista tulosta ja hyötyä ei pysty arvioimaan vielä pariin kuukauteen. Toivon, että näistä olisi apua. Olen myös aloittanut biotiinikuurin, mutta koska minulla on valmiiksi rasvoittuva ja epäpuhdas iho, niin en ole kovin innoissani biotiinin ihoa huonontavasta vaikutuksesta. Monet syövät sen vuoksi sinkkitabletteja ja yritin sitä itsekin, mutta sainkin todeta, että sinkki aiheuttaa minulle voimakasta pahoinvointia. :( Mutta pitää seurata tilannetta ja päivittää parin kuukauden päästä uudestaan.

And some other news. I've been having hair/scalp treatments since November. I've been suffering from hair loss since summer and my already thin hair is in a sorry shape. I had 3 scalp treatments where my hair was first washed, then there was a hair mask and after that a scalp stimulating toner. I've also had hair laser treatments (2 times so far - 10 all together). It's also meant to stimulate the scalp. I don't know if these will do any good. Only time will tell. I've also started taking biotin, but because of my oily/blemished skin I'm not too fond of biotin. It worsens my skin. People usually take zinc to prevent that, but I was lucky to find out that zinc causes me nausea. :( I'll keep you updated.

Bruised Colors

Välillä tulee yhdisteltyä outoja sävyjä keskenään. Nämä kaksi seuraavaa meikkiä eivät välttämättä ole omat suosikkini, mutta niissä on jotain oudolla tavalla mielenkiintoista.

Sometimes I want to combine a bit weird colors together. These next looks aren't exactly in my top 10, but there's something weirdly interesting about them.

Alun perin minulla oli ideana tätä meikkiä tehdessä syksyinen oranssi. Noh, juuri sellaista sävyä minulta ei löytynyt(!), joten lopputulos muistuttaa enemmänkin vanhaa mustelmaa. Silti tykkään tästä meikistä. En enää muista ihan varmasti kaikkia sävyjä, mutta käytin sekä Wet 'n Wildin 'Comfort Zone' -palettia sekä Manly-palettia (josta on nimen omaan tuo kellertävä sävy). Ilman rajauksia tämä olisi todellakin ollut sen näköinen, että joku olisi saattanut kysyä, onko minulla silmät mustana.

When I started doing this look I first thought about using warm orange/terracotta. But, to my surprise, I don't own a shade like that(!). So my look ended up resembling an old bruise. ;) But I still like this. I don't remember all the shadows I used, but mainly the shades were from Wet 'n Wild 'Comfort Zone' palette and Manly palette (that yellowish shade is from that one). Without the liner this would've looked like I was seriously black eyed.

Tämä oli myös hyvin kokeiluluontoinen meikki. Rajauksen pois jättäminen on minulle täysin epätyypillistä. Ja itse asiassa minulle tuli hieman epävarma olo tämän meikin kanssa. Näytän näissä meikeissä vähän oudolta, mutta sitä olin vähän hakemassakin. Halusin yhdistää tummat huulet ja kalpean ihon melko vaatimattomaan silmämeikkiin. Testasin myös ensimmäistä kertaa Ben Nyen Super White puuteria ja se on nimensä veroinen. Todella valkoinen. :)

This look was also pretty experimental. I left out the eyeliner, which is very atypical of me. And I have to say it made me feel a bit insecure. I'm looking a bit odd, but that was what I was aiming at. I wanted to combine dark lips and pale skin with simple eye make up. I also tested Ben Nye's Super White powder for the first time and it really lives up to its name. :)

Not A White Wedding

Jälleen aika katkaista hiljaisuus ja vähän kertoilla, mihin aikani on mennyt. Ystäväpariskunta vietti häitään pyhäinpäivän iltana ja minulla oli kunnia tehdä morsiamen puku. Tein pukua lokakuussa aina töiden jälkeen, joten kaikki muu tekeminen jäi vähän taka-alalle.

It's time to break the silence again and tell what I've been up to lately. My friends got married last weekend and I had the honor of making the bride's gown. I worked on it after work so I had very little spare time to do anything else.

Itse häät olivat aivan ihanat. Tunnelma, ruoka, musiikki ja kaikki muu vain toimivat niin hyvin. Ja ystäväni näytti niin upelta puvussaan (nukke ei tee mekolle oikeutta). Tein myös morsiamen silmämeikin, mutta siitä minulla ei ole erikseen kuvia. Aikataulu oli sen verran tiukka hääpäivänä. 

The wedding itself was just wonderful. The atmosphere, food, music and everything else just work so well together. And my friend looked gorgeous in her dress (the dress form doesn't do any justice to the gown). I also did the bride's eye make up, but I don't have pictures of it. We were on a pretty tight schedule.

Tässä vielä pari kuvaa omasta meikistäni. Vierailla oli lupa/velvollisuus tulla häihin täysin itsensä näköisinä. <3 Itselläni oli violetti teema ja tein itselleni viime hetkellä vielä violetin korsetin (josta ei tietenkään ole kuvia missään...).

Tämä jälkimmäinen kuva on hieman epätarkka, mutta siinä näkyy Meerkatin ihana kultainen hohde. Meerkat on todella, todella kaunis. Melko vaalea violetti, jossa on kultaista hohdetta. Se on melko helppo arkisävy, jossa on kuitenkin jotain persoonallista. <3

The second picture is a bit blurry, but here you can see the golden shimmer much better. Meerkat is really lovely shade. Light/medium purple with golden shimmer. It's great to use in day time, but it's got a twist. <3

En ole oikein koskaan ollut sinut vaaleiden luomivärien kanssa, jotka ovat hieman tummempia kuin oma ihon värini. Olen aina tykännyt enemmän siitä, että värit ovat joko vaaleampia tai selkeästi tummempia. Olen siis ihan viime vuosina opetellut käyttämään tällaisia välisävyjä. ;) Kurisumasu! näyttää jostain kulmasta melkein valkoiselta ja toisesta taas persikkaiselta. Kaunis sävy, mutta vierastan silti tuon värin "tummuutta". Tosin todennäköisesti mahtava sävy kiiremeikkiin. Tämä sävy tuo heti katseeseen kirkkautta. Luomiväri myös levittyy luomelle upeasti ja pysyy ilman Pixie Epoxya. 


I've never really liked eyeshadow shades that are just a bit darker than my own skintone. I like shadows which are lighter or definitely darker. but I've started to learn how to use these 'in-between' colors lately. 'Kurisumasu!' looks almost white at one angle and peachy at other. It's a very pretty shade, but it's still a bit too "dark" for me. ;) but I'm pretty sure this is a perfect shade for a super quick make up. It really brightens up your eyes and applies beautifully even without Pixie Epoxy. 

Fyrinnae Blues

'Mermaid Masquerade' on todella upea sävy. Todella hohtava ja moniulotteinen. Fyrinnaen sävyt jotenkin inspiroivat minua kokeilemaan uusia yhdistelmiä ja leikkimään väreillä. Seuraavaksi postaan kuvia hieman neutraalemmeistä yhdistelmistä. Ja ensi viikolla pääsen testailemaan Urban Decayn Smoked -palettia. :)

'Mermaid Masquerade' is really beautiful shade. Shimmery and multidimensional. Fyrinnae eyeshadows somehow inspire me a lot. Next up are a bit more neutral combinations. And next week I'll get to try out Urban Decay's Smoked palette. :)

Red Look with Fyrinnae

Käydäänpäs sitten Fyrinnaen luomivärien kimppuun. Ensimmäisenä vuorossa punainen meikki. En vain voinut odottaa, että pääsen kokeilemaan näitä punaisen eri sävyjä.

Let's get started with Fyrinnae looks. First up: reds. 

Tästä tulikin vähän tällainen 'kokeillaan sitten kaikkea kerralla' -tapaus. Ei ihan oma lemppari, mutta menkööt. Nämä punaiset luomivärit ovat siis todella kauniita, mutta toiveenani on löytää sellainen kirkas, metallinhohtoinen punainen.

This look was a bit all over the place. I wanted to try too many products at the same time, but what the hell. :) These reds are absolutely beautiful. It's just that I'd like to own a bright metallic red eyeshadow. Perhaps some day.

Fyrinnae: Samhain 2012 - Swatches & Thoughts

Fyrinnae on julkaissut perinteisen pyhäinpäivä/Samhain -aiheisen kokoelmansa tälle syksylle. Tilaukseni tuli todella nopeasti, vaikka sivuilla lukeekin, että toimitusaika on 18-30 päivää.

Fyrinnae has released the traditional Samhain collection and my order arrived very quickly, although the website states that it takes 18-30 days for the order to ship.

Kaikki tilaamani värit eivät siis kuulu Samhain -kokoelmaan, mutta  aika iso osa kuitenkin. Kuten kuvista näkyy, tilasin kerralla oikeastaan kaikki punaisen sävyt. ;) Etsin edelleen 'sitä täydellistä punaista'. 'Sultry Samhain' pääsi jo lähelle, mutta se on hieman liian tumma ja taittaa viininpunaiseen. Siinä on kuitenkin todella kaunis metallinen kiilto. Otin mukaa myös pari vaaleaa ja neutraalia sävyä. Ilmaisena samplena tuli kultainen 'Mischievous Sidhe'. Olen jo jonkin verran päässyt kokeilemaan sävyjä ja kuvia tulossa lähi päivinä. 

All the eyeshadows I ordered don't belong to the Samhain collection, but quite many do. As you can see, I ordered almost every red shade. ;) I'm still searching for the 'perfect red'. 'Sultry Samhain' gets quite close, but it's a bit too dark and leans to burgundy. But it has a gorgeous metallic sheen. I also took couple of light neutral shades. I got 'Mischievous Sidhe' as a free sample. I've already tried couple of these shadows and I'll be posting pictures in a few days.

Suosittelen Fyrinnaen luomivärejä todella lämpimästi, jos jaksaa kikkailla näiden jauhemaisten kanssa. Samalla suosittelen hankkimaan Pixie Epoxyn, koska sen kanssa saa kaiken kimalluksen kunnolla pysymään. Sample-kokojen hinta on nykyään 2,25$ ja siitä riittää todella pitkäksi aikaa.

I really recommend Fyrinnae eye shadows to everyone who likes working with loose eyeshadows. And I also recommend getting Pixie Epoxy to help keeping all the glitter and shine in its place. Samples cost $2.25 and it goes a long way.

Gina Tricot: Eyeshadows - Swatches & Thoughts

11 Grape Royal, 57 Earth, 78 Rockstar

Gina Tricot -vaatekauppoihin on tullut myyntiin myös oma meikkisarja. Ja minua kiinnostavat aina uudet, värikkäät ja edulliset meikit. :) Sarjaan kuuluvat luomivärit ovat houkutelleet jo jonkin aikaa, mutta vasta tällä viikolla päätin ostaa kolme (yksi nappi maksaa 3,95€ ja 3 nappia 9,95€).

Gina Tricot is a Scandinavian/European clothing store and some time ago they introduced their own make up line as well. The prices are very cheap and products look quite interesting so I bought 3  eyeshadows to test out. 

Mielestäni pakkaukset ovat yllättävän tyylikkään tällaiselle halpissarjalle. Mutta sitten asiaa itse luomiväreistä. Näissä kolmessa on hyvin erilainen koostumus. Violettiin taittava pinkki 'Grape Royal' on hyvin glitterinen, taupe 'Earth' taas muistuttaa koostumukseltaan Inglotin pearl-luomivärejä ja sinisen violetti 'Rockstar' on melkein matta. Parhaiten näistä toimii 'Earth'. Luomiväri on pehmeä ja pigmenttinen ja väri levittyy ja häivyttyy todella kauniisti. 'Grape Royal' on tosiaankin glitterinen ja vaatii mielestäni hieman tahmean pohjustajan alleen. Muuten aivan ihana sävy. :) Kolmikon heikoin lenkki on 'Rockstar'. Luomelle levitettynä se tuntuu jauhoiselta ja sitä pitää kerrostaa paljon. Kädelle kokeiltuna toimi paremmin.

I like the simple, black packaging. Then about the shadows themselves. These 3 have very different consistencies. 'Grape Royal' is very glittery, 'Earth' reminds me a lot of Inglot's pearl eyeshadows and blue purple 'Rockstar' is almost matte. Earth is definitely the best, it applies smoothly and is very easy to blend. 'Rockstar' is quite chalky and applies unevenly. It swatched much better on my hand. 

Tässä vielä vertailu 'Grape Royal'in ja Fyrinnaen 'Wake Not The Dead' luomivärin välillä. Tiesin jo liikkeessä, että värit ovat melko samanlaiset, mutta en arvannut, että ne olisivat ihan näin lähellä toisiaan. Fyrinnae on hieman enemmän violetti ja siinä oleva kimallus on moniväristä.

Here's a comparison between 'Grape Royal' and Fyrinnae's 'Wake Not The Dead' (which has been discontinued). I noticed already in the store that the shades are quite similar, but they look even more so when I swatched them. Biggest difference is that Fyrinnae is a bit more purple and its glitter is multicolored. It was nice to find such a close dupe.

Ostin myös ripsivärin, huulipunan ja silmämeikkikynän, mutta niistä myöhemmin. Oikein kiva lisä Suomen rajallisille meikkimarkkinoille. 

I also bought a mascara, a lipstick and an eye kohl, but more about them later. It's always nice to have new make up brands here in Finland where we don't have that many.

Victorian Past Life

Nämä kuvat ovat noin 1,5 vuotta sitten otettu. Välillä taiteen tekeminen kestää, joten sain kuvat vihdoin tänään itselleni. :) Kuvat on ottanut Atelieri O. Haapala. Suosittelen kaikille, joilla on mahdollisuus käydä heidän kuvattavanaan, että menkää! Saara ja Marco ovat ihan parhaita ja ihania. :)

This was probably the most official photoshoot I've been in. One of the photos will be in an ad next month. No one will be surprised when I say that it's a wedding magazine. I hope to get my own copy.

En siis ole malli missään mielessä. Olen 161cm pitkä (lyhyt), en todellakaan mallikokoa (puku onneksi mahtui päälle), huono iho ja ohuet hiukset. Niistä on menestyksen resepti tehty. ;D Tämä homma tuli ihan työpaikan kautta ja suostuin tietysti söpöstelemään häämekko päällä yhden iltapäivän. Tuo oli kyllä aika hemmetin nätti ja söpö puku, jos menisi naimisiin vaaleassa puvussa. Tuossa röyhelöisessä alushameessa oli jopa pieni vanne. <3

I'm not a model in any sense. I'm 1,61m (about 5' 3"), I'm not model size (the dress fit quite ok luckily), I have bad skin and thin hair. All the things you need to success. ;D I was asked to do this by my boss and I thought why not spend one afternoon in a cute little wedding dress. And that dress sure was cute. If I were to get married in a white dress then that wouldn't be a bad choice. The ruffled underskirt even had a small hoop in it. <3

Vaikeinta kuvissa oli ottaa huomioon kukkakimppu, koska sen piti näkyä kuvissa aina oikeasti kulmasta. En ole myöskään kovin kekseliäs poseeraaja, joten toivoin, että kuvaajalla ei mene hermot, koska hän taas oli rautainen ammattilainen. Alun perin minun piti mennä meikkaajalle, mutta väärinkäsitysten vuoksi tein meikin itse. Olin toisaalta huojentunut ja toisaalta vähän pettynyt. Olisi ollut kiva nähdä pitkän ajan jälkeen, miten joku toinen minut meikkaisi. Meikki onneksi näyttää freesiltä, vaikka jouduin vain korjaamaan aamulla tekemääni pohjaa ja silmämeikkiä. Meikkivoiteena oli Misshan Perfect Cover BB -voide ja huulilla Milanin tumman pinkki 'Photo Flash'. Kävi yhteen kivasti noiden kenkien kanssa. :)

The hardest thing was to keep the flowers right in every picture. I'm also not very innovative when it comes to posing, so I hoped that the photographer doesn't get all frustrated 'cause he's a professional. I was supposed to go to an make up artist, but after some weird misunderstanding I ended up doing the make up myself. I was relieved and disappointed at the same time. I kinda wanted to see what kind of look someone else would make me. I used Missha's Perfect Cover BB cream as a base and Milani's dark pink 'Photo Flash' on the lips. My lips matched the shoes quite well. :)
